Depression
Depression is a mood disorder the causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It is one of the most common mental illnesses in the country. It is a normal course of life to feel depressed from time to time. However, for some, it is a constant state of mood characterized by sadness, loss of interest, deceased energy, feelings of worthlessness, fatigue, thoughts of suicide, etc. It can affect your sleep, eating, ability to concentrate, and so forth. It can be long lasting or recurrent. However, when feelings like that persist for days or weeks and keeps you from living your life to your full potential, it is more than just sadness. Depression is treatable and symptoms can be managed through medication and therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) , and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
